Power Stations, led by Carlos F Carrillo Jr.
multi-media, dimensions variable, 2012
shown at Governor’s Island Art Fair (GIAF), NY
Taking over the 3 rooms and the hallway of the attic Power Stations transforms the language of electrical infrastructure into an artificial ecology. Built from metal pipes, lightboxes, and exposed wiring, the work suggests plants, trees, or fungal networks reconstructed from industrial parts. Its alien quality comes from this substitution: nature appears, but only through the materials of its technological double.
